THE PAPER-LIST FEELING
See your tasks on a ruled page and cross them off with Apple Pencil. It follows your selected sidebar filter; it isn’t a separate notebook of tasks.
SEVERAL TASKS, ONE GO
Open from Notepad to add one task per row, then save them together. Scribble or keyboard entry creates text tasks, rather than saving each row as a freehand drawing.
Use the bottom Dashboard / Notepad control to switch views. In Notepad, tap List Mode to add several tasks. Switching views keeps your tasks and selected filter the same.
One thought, one task. Or a whole page at once.
Your task is saved even if the current sidebar filter doesn’t show it. Choose All Tasks in Dashboard to find it.
Aa saves the task title as text. You can type it, or use Apple Pencil and Scribble in the empty title field. Draw keeps your title as freehand ink, just as you wrote it. Both styles let you add handwritten notes.
Tap the Aa / Draw control in the task editor to switch styles. Its label shows the current style. Editor controls can be arranged differently in Settings, so their position may vary.
Notes stay as handwriting, even in Aa. In Aa, you still need a task title before you can save.
List Mode creates text tasks, not separate freehand drawings. Use New Task → Draw when you want to preserve your ink. Add notes or a due date by opening a saved task afterward.
Give your tasks a little context and your day a little focus.
In List Mode, set these details for each row by tapping its row number. Category and priority are optional.
To remove a due date, open the picker and tap Clear, then save the task. A due date organizes the task; it is not a notification reminder.
Open tasks appear in Today when their due date is today or they are pinned to Today.
To unpin, swipe left on the same row and tap Remove. This removes the pin, not the task. A task due today still belongs in Today. Tasks completed today also remain available in that view.
All Tasks gives you the full collection. Today shows open tasks due today or pinned to Today, plus tasks completed today. Completed shows finished tasks. A category shows tasks assigned to that category.
These are filters, not separate lists. Dashboard and Notepad use the same selected filter, so switching views doesn’t duplicate or move tasks. If the sidebar is hidden, use the sidebar control to bring it back.
Make a change, cross it off, or give it another go.
Tap the task’s round checkbox in Dashboard or Notepad. For that paper-list feeling, draw a horizontal line across an open task with Apple Pencil in either view. You can also open the task and tap Complete in its editor.
Cross out tasks in the task list, not on the editor’s writing page. In the editor, strokes change your drawing or notes; use Complete to finish the task.
If you just completed something by mistake in Dashboard, tap Undo while the temporary completion message is visible. That message is shown in Dashboard; in Notepad, use the checkbox or editor instead. In other Dashboard filters, tap Completed Tasks to expand finished items.
A few quick checks before you put your Pencil down.
In Aa, Save needs a task title containing more than spaces. Handwritten notes alone don’t enable it. In Draw, Save needs ink on the writing page. In List Mode, Add Tasks needs at least one row containing text.
Check the entry style you’re using, add a title or ink there, and try again. In List Mode, wait for Scribble to turn your handwriting into text before adding the tasks.
Notepad keeps tasks completed today visible within the selected filter, but hides older completed tasks. Find those through Dashboard → Completed. Switching views or filters does not delete a task.
That’s Scribble doing its job. The empty title field in Aa and the rows in List Mode accept Apple Pencil writing as text input.
For a title that stays in your own handwriting, open New Task and switch to Draw. The NOTES area also keeps freehand ink. List Mode does not have a freehand-ink entry style.
Completion strikes only finish open tasks. To bring a finished task back, use its checkbox or Reopen in the editor.
